Last weekend, I visited the Google Home Mini pop up Donut Shop in downtown Indianapolis. Here’s everything you need to know.
Google Home Mini Donut Shops popped up in 11 locations across the US (and one in Canada too) where participants have a chance at winning either a Google Home Mini or two donuts in this whimsical store.
Why donuts? Because the mini speaker is the same size as a donut, but its small size is absolutely packed with functionality.
The Experience
Like any good restaurant, Google has a menu to look over what you wanted to order ahead of time.
When it’s your turn to step up to the counter, you order by asking the Google Home Mini one of the questions from the menu. Then, the speaker answers your question and a box slides down from the display, either containing a Google Home Mini or two donuts.
The speakers are randomly dropped at predetermined “Winning Times” throughout the event. Each location has approximately 250 speakers to give away each day. I set my expectations low, but surprise! Both my boyfriend and I had Minis in our boxes.
The Speaker
I’ve only had my smart speaker for a few days, but I already love it! As a chronic procrastinator, I’m always rushing in the morning getting ready for work. But Google Home Mini unexpectedly made my routine waaaay faster.
Now, instead of stopping what I’m doing to look up the weather or traffic and inevitably getting distracted by something else on my phone, I can shout out these questions to Google and receive a run-down of my day while running around my apartment doing the 15 things I definitely should have done last night.
You don’t need to have a Google Pixel phone to use this speaker. Just download the Google Home app and Google Assistant app from your device’s app store to start using.
