Did you know that your current device is worth money? If it’s time for you to upgrade to a new smartphone, don’t think that the device you have now is destined to sit in your junk drawer and collect dust forever. There are a number of things you can do with it at TCC that will make you some money.
Use It for a Promo
Certain promotions on the newest devices require a device trade in order to qualify. For these types of offers, there will be a set amount you are able to save based on the type of phone you have now. The one stipulation is that your current phone has to be in good, working condition without a cracked screen in order to get the highest value for it. The advantage of trading in your current device for these promotions is that you’re normally able to get more money for that device than if you were to just trade it in organically without an offer.
You will get a set of instructions from Verizon that walk you through the super simple process of sending your phone back to them, and they will provide all the necessary materials. Once they’ve received your phone, they’ll send you a confirmation email. A few weeks later, you’ll get another email from Verizon after they’ve inspected your phone letting you know the value you will receive from it. This will now be applied to your monthly bill as a credit for the next 24 months.
Just Trade It In
If the device you want to get doesn’t have a promotion on it that requires a device trade-in, you can still trade in your current phone to save! Verizon has set amounts that do change over time based on the phone’s age and condition. The newer the phone and the better the condition, the more money you’ll be able to get for it. This is called its organic value.
Trade and Upgrade Early
At TCC, we have a program where you can use your phone’s organic value to trade in early! It’s called the Early Upgrade Zone and is a program exclusive to TCC that you can’t get anywhere else. So, what exactly is the Early Upgrade Zone? When your phone’s trade-in value equals what you owe on your device, you’re able to trade it in and upgrade early.
Take this example: you want the new Phone A that just came out, but still have 3 months left to pay off your current Phone B. At this time, you would be in the Early Upgrade Zone because the organic trade value of current Phone B equals what you owe on the device. You can use that trade value to pay off the remaining device payment balance and get the new Phone A early!
