#TBT: Phones Throughout the Decade

Do you remember the first phone you had? Chances are, your current phone is a lot different. As we’re approaching the end of a decade, let’s take a look at how our devices have changed.

iPhone

In 2010, the iPhone 4 was announced. It was the first iPhone to include a front-facing camera. Of course there was a headphone jack, and it used the older version of Apple’s charger that had to be facing a certain way when you plug it in.

Today, we’re all the way on iPhone 11. A front-facing camera was revolutionary at the start of this decade; now there’s three cameras on the rear and one on the front.

Samsung Galaxy S

The Samsung Galaxy S was released in June 2010. It was the thinnest smartphone at the time and had the fastest graphical processing. Both the iPhone and Galaxy S had thick bezels around the entire screen. The Galaxy S10 and Note10 are the current versions.

Motorola

The popular Motorola phone at the start of the decade was the Droid. You could hold it horizontally and slide the screen up to reveal a small keyboard.

In 2020, Motorola is reviving the Razr again! Check out the reimagined design.

Will this be the start of a flip phone revival? We’ll have to wait until it’s launched sometime next year to see. They also recently made one of the first 5G-compatible smartphones, the Moto Z4.
