At the start of the year, Donna Wilcox made a goal: she was going to put aside $10,000 this year for a new car. Then one afternoon she got an unexpected phone call from TCC. We had randomly selected Donna to be December’s Get10Give10 winner! We were calling to let her know that she had won $10,000 for herself and that she needed to think of a nonprofit to donate an additional $10,000.
Donna chose the American Cancer Society of Illinois to receive the $10,000 TCC Gives donation. She has a personal connection to their mission. Her mom is a cancer survivor currently undergoing another round of treatment, and a lot of the women in her family have gotten cancer at some point in their lives.
The American Cancer Society will use this donation to help save lives; they provide free rides to treatment for cancer patients, advocacy, information, places to stay when receiving treatment far from home, and more.
